The WGEA EOCGE citation is a leading recognition program designed to encourage, recognise and promote active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces. The criteria for the citation cover leadership, learning and development, gender remuneration gaps, flexible working and other initiatives for improving gender equality outcomes. The criteria are regularly strengthened to reflect best practice, and to meet these standards requires an active and whole-of-organisation approach to support equality at all levels of the workplace.
“At SMEC, diversity is in our DNA,” said James Phillis, SMEC ANZ CEO. “As a member of the Surbana Jurong Group, with over 16,000 people working across 40+ countries, we are committed to providing an inclusive workplace and promoting an empowering culture. Delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients and partners means developing and nurturing a growing network of exceptional people who can leverage their unique backgrounds, skills and thinking to drive innovation and shared learning.”
“More recently we have worked to drive key improvements in flexible work practices, parental leave policies and learning and development programs. Becoming an EOCGE citation holder recognises our active and ongoing commitment to achieving gender equality across our business.”
WGEA Director Libby Lyons commented, “This year, we strengthened the eligibility criteria by placing even greater emphasis on accountability, outcomes, evidence and internal reporting processes. I would like to congratulate all of our 2019-20 EOCGE citation holders for the extra effort and commitment it has taken to meet these additional rigorous requirements. These industry leaders are showing other Australian businesses how to create a better and more equal future for both women and men.”
