As a part of the project scope, the design team recently conducted a three-day virtual training session with the client – Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST). The session was coordinated by SMEC in Ghana and attended by the client team including senior managers and depot plant operatives.
The training session covered project design protocols, engineering standards, detailed explanation of deliverables, methodology, interface with other disciplines, hydraulic analysis, and software utilization.
Outputs and feedback from the workshop will be used to inform the engineering solution. A key consideration will be the FEED’s interface with the project Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning.
SMEC has already commenced work on developing the process design for the FEED package. This will include pipes, civil infrastructure, tanks, mechanical and electrical controls, and safety studies.

Following the training session, Shared Abrar Sharif, General Manager Engineering Operations – SMEC Oil & Gas said,
“The session enabled our teams to interact with the 3D-model in real time, as if being on site. Our efforts enabled BOST to build a stronger operational understanding of the solutions, whilst helping to forge a safe site culture for staff.”
